how to improve fuel pump kit fjr300
By: Stu Cran on 15 April 2025The price for a genuine fuel pump for a fjr1300 included not only the entire pump and housing but a months wait for it to arrive from Japan. Rather than spending $1000 , I spent $190 on a quantum pump. It works great. There are 2 things they can do to improve this kit. 1: include the correct filter. I ended up purchasing the correct filters from china and there are heaps available, so why cant quantum supply them. The other thing is a pressure regulator valve. Quantum do not make / list one of these. My Yamaha Mechanic told me that fuel pump / pressure issues were a very common problem with fjr's. I am very surprised that there is not a pressure reg valve available through quantum. So many countries have the fjr as police bikes. They are so popular yet the only place I could find a pressure reg valve was in china. please "quantum" make a kit that not only provide the pump but also the correct filter as well as a pressure reg valve. If the pump is seized (as mine was) the pressure reg valve will also be stuffed. (as mine was /is) WE (fjr1300 ownrs) need more after market parts. Ive given it a 3 star rating because the kit is limited. However it is really only one of a limited choice if you dont want to spend a lot more money. Having said that, RPM service was great. Good communication and quick delivery.
